Crib Sets and Baby Bedding Basics
The U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission recommends removing all “pillows, quilts, comforters, sheepskins, pillow-like stuffed toys, and other soft products” from a crib before allowing an infant less than 12 months old to play or sleep in it. That doesn’t mean you can’t accessorize the baby’s crib with cute and puffy quilts and pillows; just remove them before putting the infant in the crib. The commission even produced a video showing a caretaker removing extra bedding before placing a cute-as-a-button baby on the mattress.
Concerned about the baby's warmth? Choose a warm sleeper outfit or tuck in a blanket under the mattress at one end and place the baby under the blanket, allowing it to reach only as far as the baby's chest.
